Kalan Code * Life Guardian

KALAN code

Are you a Kuxtal KALAN

from the Mayan language kuxtal = life & kalan = guardian A Kuxtal KALAN is a Guardian of life who, through his love of nature , sows and promotes the culture of care for life & the environment in his family & social circle .

Mayan sea helps you save by introducing more natural methods so that you can direct your aquarium investments to the real animal well-being of your species and promote the growth of the Responsible Aquarium sector.

Participate in the great mission of marine aquarism by promoting the kalan code.

Considering THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF ANIMAL RIGHTS (proclaimed on October 15, 1978, it was approved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and later by the United Nations (UN)). In its article 1 it states:

Article 1 All Animals are born equal to life and have the same rights to existence.

Article 2

  1. a) Every Animal has the right to respect.
  2. b) Man, as an animal species, cannot claim the right to exterminate other animals or exploit them in violation of that right. You have the obligation to put your knowledge at the service of Animals.
  3. c) All Animals have the right to attention, care and protection from man.

And in the face of the current crisis of devastation suffered by marine reefs, Marine Aquarophilia takes on a fundamental mission in terms of species conservation and dissemination of ecological culture.

Each Marine Aquarist has a great mission to fulfill in a show of affection and respect for the species in their custody.

Marine aquarists represent a high-impact sector in ecological education when we share the beauty of successful aquariums. We are an example and bearers of an important message to spread: the importance and beauty of nature.

Our consistency in day-to-day life as KALAN's and in good aquaristic practices has a high impact on the commercial aquarium sector and on society, and very importantly: on new generations .

Kuxtal Kalan Philosophy

“Nature is very wise, we must respect it. To understand it you have to observe it, imitate it and not just try to control it.” Dr. Samuel Gómez Aguirre†

Mayan Sea promotes the Kuxtal Kalan campaign by giving away the plankton food chain and proposing a Sea Salt formula that allows the time between water changes to be extended longer. Thus closed systems will develop in a way that is more similar to nature. We also put at your disposal the POC Method ( Lippia Berlanderi & Equilibrium) for preventive and/or corrective use in case of common diseases in aquariums and provide better living conditions for the species. We help you save so that you can direct your conscious investments to promote Responsible Aquariums, to whom we owe Marine Aquariums to continue developing.

In return, we invite you to join in promoting the principles of the KALAN code:

  1. Humility: Wisdom is in nature. Our human condition allows us to learn from it but not the other way around. Remember that there will always be something to learn and something to contribute.
  2. Patience: it is one of the greatest challenges of marine aquarium hobby. To learn from nature we must observe over a long time without intervening too much. Imitating the ways of nature in closed systems will bring noble results to its inhabitants and great savings to the aquarist. Patience must also be directed to listen to doubts from newbies, and to explain to families and friends the natural wonders of a reef.
  3. Worthy Value: when you buy a cheap fish, coral or organism you are prostituting it. It means that you have not received the care necessary to preserve your well-being. It has been shown that in the short term the cost of introducing a mistreated fish or organism generates an expense of at least 800% above its value and sometimes even the loss of entire aquariums. This is abuse and causes social rejection of the hobby. It is the mission of a KALAN to promote good practices and block aquariums with poor quarantine practices because in doing so they seek to profit by abusing newbies and sacrificing species. In addition, paying the right amount in the long run is savings.
  4. Priority to health: the investment budget in the tanks must prioritize the health of the species. It is very important not to overcrowd urns and to provide adequate swimming space for each species. This will make your system healthier and more stable in multiple ways.
  5. Prevention: the investment of your systems should always begin with having the appropriate equipment to set up a basic emergency quarantine. It is not consistent to pay for an organism that does not have the minimum necessary to allow a dignified life and preventive and timely medical treatment. Research & read as much as you can before buying.
  6. Empathy: with fish and organisms. Respect their space, do not allow them to be stressed by knocks or excessive lighting conditions. Treat them with the respect they deserve, they perceive it and show their gratitude too. Avoid showing your teeth, that scares them.
  7. Balance: A successful aquarium takes years of effort. Find a balance between your real budget so that your investment is sustainable over time. Determine the size of the aquarium and species to guard based on it. Every species is beautiful when it is healthy and happy.
  8. Support for the Responsible Aquarium: Recommends and publicly recognizes the value of the daily efforts of those who allow Marine Aquariums to be sustained and developed.
  9. Dissemination: set an example and ask your family and friends to adopt eco-friendly practices. Recycle, and above all try to consume less plastic and textiles.
  10. Enthusiasm: marine aquarium hobby involves learning and stressful or bitter moments. Always maintain enthusiasm. Despite everything, he encourages and comforts his colleagues. Each KALAN is a fundamental link to protect and save the magic of marine reefs through dissemination and conservation.
